Senior Data Science Lead, Telematics and Insurance
London or Liverpool. Hybrid 1 to 2 days onsite

The role
This role sits within a growing data science function created through business expansion. The team works with large-scale telematics data from vehicles. The data explains how people drive and supports pricing, risk, and product decisions across insurance.

The business has time to hire well. The data estate continues to mature and the team plans for a three month notice period. You will join at a point where you shape direction rather than inherit legacy constraints.

What you will do
You will own telematics driven data science from model design through production delivery. You will translate complex outputs into clear commercial insight for underwriting, pricing, and finance teams.

Day to day focus

  • Build and productionise machine learning models using large streaming datasets

  • Work with Python across high volume data pipelines

  • Apply tree based models and deep neural networks to real world pricing problems

  • Partner with engineering teams using Spark or Kafka style technologies

  • Translate model outputs into clear business recommendations

  • Work directly with senior stakeholders across product, finance, and technology

  • Identify new use cases across fleets, taxis, and future products

  • Take ownership of projects from idea through delivery
