Accounts Assistant

Chester (Hybrid 3-4 days onsite)

Salary up to 37.5K

We have teamed up with a fast-growing international technology platform and they are looking for an Accounts Assistant to support the finance team! As the company scales, the finance team is strengthening financial control, improving margin visibility, and introducing greater automation across its international supplier network.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, working in a fast-paced environment, and contributing to improvements in finance processes as the business grows.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing and reconciling bank transactions across multiple accounts and currencies
  • Processing supplier invoices, completing reconciliations, and supporting accurate payment runs
  • Assisting with customer invoicing, resolving billing queries, and supporting credit control activities
  • Supporting month-end processes including journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting with VAT reconciliations and preparation of VAT returns
  • Posting payroll journals and reconciling PAYE and pension balances
  • Acting as a key point of contact for finance queries, responding to customers, suppliers, and internal teams in a timely manner

Skills and Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to resolve discrepancies
  • Experience using accounting software (e.g., Xero)
  • Strong Excel and general finance system skills (AP, AR and VAT)
  • Confident communicating with customers and suppliers
  • Studying AAT or interested in pursuing a finance qualification is desirable
