Cyber Security Architect
Location: Greater Cheshire Area (Hybrid)
Salary: £80,000 – £85,000
A large B2C retail organisation is seeking an experienced and visionary Cyber Security Architect to join its Cyber Security function. Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security, this senior role will shape and drive the organisation’s security architecture strategy across enterprise IT and digital platforms.
The successful candidate will lead the Security Engineering capability, covering Identity & Access Management (IAM), Cloud Security, Threat Modelling, and Application Security, ensuring security is embedded into all technology initiatives and business change programmes.
This role operates on a hybrid basis within the Greater Cheshire area.
Key Responsibilities

Lead security architecture design across enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and applications

Oversee Security Engineering across IAM, cloud security, and secure design practices

Conduct threat modelling and provide secure design guidance for projects and product teams

Drive security architecture reviews for major initiatives and transformation programmes

Define and maintain security reference architectures, standards, and design patterns

Evaluate emerging security technologies and define strategic security roadmaps

Align security architecture with business objectives and regulatory requirements

Promote and embed a “security by design” culture across IT and business change

Mentor and develop technical security professionals
Essential Experience & Skills

Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise security architectures

Strong knowledge of Identity & Access Management principles and technologies

Experience within a predominantly Microsoft technology environment

Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud security (AWS exposure desirable)

Hands-on experience conducting threat modelling and secure design reviews

Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability

Experience leading and mentoring security engineering teams
Desirable

Familiarity with secure development practices and application security frameworks (e.g., OWASP)

Experience with Akamai

Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture principles

Professional certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, SABSA, or equivalent
