Research Scientist
Up to $250k | Office in NYC (US or Canada fully remote considered)
An early-stage, well-funded AI research lab with long runway is hiring multiple Research Scientists (up to Lead level) to advance large language models through innovative experimental approaches. The team builds interactive research environments that enable model evaluation, benchmarking, synthetic data generation, and post-training experiments. Joining at this stage gives you direct access to leadership and the opportunity to shape the lab’s research trajectory.
What you’ll do:
- Design and run experiments to test and improve LLM reasoning, behavior, and capabilities
- Analyze model performance and turn insights into actionable research outcomes
- Work hands-on with large-scale LLMs in a fast-moving, technical environment
- Collaborate with engineers and leadership on high-impact projects used by top AI labs
Who they're looking for:
- Strong background in AI/ML, NLP, or related research
- Experience in research-driven AI environments or AI labs
- Comfortable in a small, fast-moving team with high ownership and autonomy
- Bonus: interest or experience in simulation, interactive environments, or agent-based systems
