About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEO Consultant to join a growing digital marketing agency based in Greater Manchester.

This is a hands-on, commercially focused SEO role where you'll have genuine ownership over client campaigns and play an important part in driving organic visibility, enquiries and revenue.

You'll work across a varied portfolio of clients, developing and implementing SEO strategies across content, on-page optimisation and technical SEO, while staying ahead of developments in AI-driven search, answer engine optimisation and changing search behaviour.

The ideal person will be more than just technically strong. We're looking for someone who is analytical, commercially minded and an excellent communicator, with a genuine passion for content and the ability to turn SEO data and insights into clear, actionable recommendations.

You'll have the opportunity to work closely with senior members of the team, contribute ideas, take ownership of campaigns and grow your responsibilities as the business continues to expand.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Take ownership of SEO campaigns from analysis and planning through to implementation and ongoing optimisation.

  • Develop commercially focused SEO strategies designed to increase organic visibility, qualified traffic, enquiries and revenue.

  • Conduct detailed keyword research, focusing on search intent, commercial opportunities and high-converting customer journeys.

  • Develop and implement on-page SEO strategies across landing pages, service pages and other key website content.

  • Plan, create and optimise content, ensuring it meets SEO best practice while maintaining a strong brand voice and commercial purpose.

  • Review and improve AI-assisted content to ensure it is accurate, engaging, authoritative and aligned with each client's tone of voice.

  • Carry out competitor analysis and content gap research to identify new opportunities.

  • Analyse performance using Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console and SEO platforms, turning data into clear recommendations.

  • Monitor algorithm updates and changing search behaviour and adapt strategies accordingly.

  • Explore emerging opportunities across AI search, answer engine optimisation, schema and topical authority.

  • Work alongside content writers and other members of the wider team to ensure SEO and content strategies are aligned.

  • Contribute to client meetings and confidently communicate SEO recommendations and campaign performance.

  • Support account management by identifying opportunities, solving problems and helping clients understand the commercial value of SEO.

  • Stay up to date with developments across SEO, AI and digital search.

  • Contribute ideas, challenge existing approaches and help improve the way campaigns are delivered.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced SEO professional who has worked within a digital marketing or SEO agency environment.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Around 5+ years' hands-on SEO experience within an agency environment. Candidates with around 3+ years may also be considered depending on experience.

  • Strong experience across content SEO and on-page optimisation.

  • A good understanding of technical SEO, without necessarily being a technical SEO specialist.

  • Proven experience developing SEO strategies that deliver measurable commercial results.

  • Strong keyword research and search-intent analysis skills.

  • Experience working across multiple client accounts and managing competing priorities.

  • Experience using tools such as SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Majestic, GA4 and Google Search Console.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A strong eye for detail and a genuine ability to produce, edit and critique high-quality content.

  • An understanding of how SEO contributes to leads, enquiries and revenue rather than simply rankings and traffic.

  • An interest in emerging areas such as AI search, AEO, schema, topical authority and AI-assisted content creation.

  • The confidence to contribute ideas, challenge thinking and work independently.

The Person

We're particularly interested in someone who is:

  • A strong writer and communicator with excellent written English.

  • Naturally curious and always looking to understand why something is happening.

  • Commercially minded and interested in the impact SEO has on a client's wider business.

  • Confident enough to make recommendations and explain their thinking.

  • Analytical but also creative.

  • Comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.

  • Able to manage multiple clients and priorities in a fast-paced agency environment.

  • Collaborative and happy working within a small, close-knit team.

  • Passionate about producing high-quality work.

  • Keen to continue learning and develop their career within a growing agency.

The Type of Experience We're Interested In

Experience within a smaller or mid-sized digital marketing agency, particularly one working with SME clients, would be highly relevant.

We're also open to candidates from larger agencies, provided you have remained genuinely hands-on with SEO campaigns and aren't solely focused on strategy or account management.

The key is that you understand how to take an SEO strategy from analysis ? recommendation ? implementation ? measurable commercial outcome.

What You'll Get

  • £37,000–£45,000 salary depending on experience

  • Flexibility for an exceptional candidate

  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays

  • Private medical insurance after 12 months

  • Hybrid working, with 2 days working from home once established

  • 4pm finish on Fridays

  • Free on-site parking

  • Opportunities to attend industry conferences and training

  • Genuine career progression within a growing business

  • The opportunity to work on varied and challenging SEO campaigns

  • A collaborative, supportive and relatively flat team structure

  • The opportunity to influence how SEO is delivered as the business continues to grow
