The company is seeking an experienced Senior Robotics Engineer specialising in perception and sensor fusion to advance its autonomous capabilities from prototype through to production deployment.
Job Responsibilities
Perception & Computer Vision
- Detect and estimate 6-DoF poses and 3D dimensions of rigid objects under occlusion and challenging lighting conditions.
Sensor Fusion & Calibration
- Integrate and synchronise multi-modal sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, IMUs and other ranging sensors.
- Develop and implement intrinsic and extrinsic calibration techniques, including hand-eye calibration and LiDAR-camera alignment.
Localisation & Environment Awareness
- Implement lightweight localisation methods, such as point-cloud registration, marker-based localisation and feature-map alignment, within constrained or repetitive environments.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in robotics perception and sensor fusion, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in modern C++, Python and ROS 1 or ROS 2.
- Hands-on experience with industrial 3D cameras, LiDAR, IMUs and synchronised multi-sensor data acquisition.
- Strong understanding of multi-sensor calibration techniques, including hand-eye calibration and LiDAR-camera extrinsics.
- Experience with both deep-learning-based detection methods, such as YOLO and Mask R-CNN, and classical computer vision techniques, including feature matching, PnP and RANSAC.
- Proficiency with OpenCV, PCL and Open3D for real-time image and point-cloud processing.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to lightweight SLAM or marker-based mapping approaches, including AprilTags and ArUco.
- Experience with cloud-based monitoring and logging platforms for robotics systems.
