Maxwell Bond - Reflections on the First Half of 2019

Over the past six months, we’ve delivered on the promise that Maxwell Bond is a place where people matter. We’ve received recognition from some of the most prestigious awarding bodies in our industry, partnered with Forever Manchester, hosted a sell-out event with Damian Hughes and even expanded our team.

As a result, we’ve developed our internal training programmes and growth strategies – expanding our client base and enhancing our reputation. But, before we get ahead of ourselves, we wanted to showcase the achievements over the last 180 days which we’re most proud of and would like to thank those who have supported us so far.

Recognised for innovation from Barclays Entrepreneur Awards

We received a fantastic nomination from the Barclays Entrepreneur Awards 2019 – which recognises UK entrepreneurs who are changing the industry, the wider economy and society in a unique, original or positive way.

One aspect of our business that challenges the traditions of recruitment, is our approach to matching candidates based on personality and skill. The Barclays Award will be a great opportunity to see how other leaders in the industry are paving the way in terms of innovation, growth and service development.

Contributors to the wider conversation

We regularly host events in order to position ourselves as thought leaders within the field as well as educate the team. Subsequently, we arranged for Damian Hughes, author of The Barcelona Way, to lead a seminar on building high-performing teams and Winning DNA.

Despite culture being the foundation of work ethic and success, not enough employers invest in cultivating one. Damian positioned Pep Guardiola’s leadership of Barcelona FC as the benchmark of business management and demonstrated how we can all apply the same approach. Along with our talk on attracting Gen Z candidates, these events help solidify us as market commentators - not to mention, connecting us to the Manchester community which helps support our growth.

Continuing our growth with key hires

Our team have always been central to our successes. Last month, we welcomed Patrick Howley and Josh Brearley, who are both already working hard to establish Maxwell Bond as an industry leader in tech recruitment. To add to this, our future plans are just as big and we’re looking to add another six hires over the next three months!

We believe strongly in hiring based on a cultural fit, not just skills. Our success within the recruitment sector is a result of a unique team approach - where money isn’t the only motivator. We’re able to retain the talented team members we attract because our main priority is development of our people.

Investing more in personal development

This development takes form in internal and external training methods. At Maxwell Bond, if you do well, you’re rewarded. It isn’t about how long you’ve been here.

Whether that’s Riana Butler passing her Recruitment Accelerator course or Jonathan Grupman being promoted after hitting 150% of his target, nothing makes us prouder than progression of our people.

Proud winners of Best Technology Recruitment Company

We also won Corporate Vision Magazine’s Best Technology Recruitment Company. The award was created to highlight the very best within our industry and applause those who stay ahead of the curve to adapt towards the challenges within the market.

CV Magazine explained that the innovation shown by the winners, demonstrated an ability to influence and engage audiences, while endeavouring to disrupt the sector. As a company, we constantly strive to embrace new ideas that meet and exceed client and candidate expectations. As far as we’re concerned, tech is becoming the UK’s strongest sector, and we hope to meet the demand necessary to sustain its growth.

What’s next for Maxwell Bond?

Going into the second half of 2019, we hope to grow by another 50% and add to the fantastic foundations we have so far put in place with more leadership and managerial promotions.
