Data Architect – Databricks | Modern Data Platforms
Remote First - Occasional Travel to London Office
Up to £120,000

This is an opportunity for an experienced Data Architect to take a leading role in shaping and delivering modern Databricks-based data platforms for enterprise clients. You’ll work in a highly client-facing environment where architecture, engineering, and consulting come together to deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions that enable analytics and AI readiness.
You’ll stay close to delivery while influencing architecture decisions end-to-end, from early discovery through to implementation. This includes working directly with clients to understand requirements, leading architecture workshops, and helping define solutions across performance, scalability, governance, and cost optimisation. You’ll also contribute to pre-sales activity and work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are delivered effectively.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll operate across a range of enterprise transformation programmes, designing and implementing Databricks Lakehouse architectures and modern data platforms. You’ll remain hands-on with technologies such as Spark, PySpark, and Delta Lake, while also playing a key role in client engagement, solution design, and technical leadership. You’ll help organisations modernise legacy data estates into scalable cloud-native platforms and contribute to internal architecture standards and reusable patterns.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for experienced Data Architects with strong Databricks expertise and a background in modern cloud data platforms. You should have experience delivering enterprise-scale Lakehouse solutions, strong data engineering capability across Spark, PySpark, and Delta Lake, and a solid understanding of data modelling approaches such as Kimball, 3NF, and Data Vault. Experience across Azure, AWS, or GCP is expected, along with a background in consulting or client-facing delivery where you’ve translated complex requirements into clear architectural solutions.

Desirable Experience
Experience with Unity Catalog or other data governance tooling, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform), MLflow or broader AI/ML platforms, and Azure Databricks would be beneficial. Exposure to AI readiness programmes and experience supporting pre-sales or client presentations would also be advantageous.

Client Impact
This role offers the chance to work on meaningful enterprise transformation programmes where your architectural decisions directly influence how organisations modernise their data platforms and enable AI. You’ll combine hands-on technical delivery with client-facing consulting and play a key role in shaping scalable, real-world solutions.

Apply
If you’re a Databricks-focused Data Architect who enjoys combining technical delivery with client-facing consulting, we’d like to hear from you.
