Junior Software Delivery Manager
Location: Manchester / Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days from home
Sector: Tech For Good
Salary: £40,000
“I’m capable of more than updating someone else’s plans.”
If that sounds familiar, this could be the opportunity to take the next step in your software delivery career.
This is an opportunity to join a growing Tech For Good / HealthTech business as a Junior Software Delivery Manager, helping bring structure, visibility and coordination to the delivery of its software roadmap.
Working closely with Product and Engineering, you’ll become a central point of contact for software delivery - keeping plans and information up to date, tracking progress through the Software Development Life Cycle, identifying potential delays and making sure the right people have visibility of what’s happening.
This isn’t a Scrum Master role, nor are you expected to dictate how engineering teams work. Instead, you’ll provide the framework around delivery, helping ensure projects remain organised, risks are identified early and stakeholders have accurate information.
What you’ll be doing
- Tracking software projects and initiatives through the SDLC.
- Maintaining delivery plans, roadmaps and project information.
- Monitoring progress against agreed timelines and escalating potential risks or delays.
- Working closely with Software Engineers and Product to understand delivery status.
- Maintaining accurate information within Jira or similar project management tools.
- Supporting delivery, performance and financial reporting.
- Providing clear updates to stakeholders across the business.
- Helping improve delivery processes, reporting and ways of working as the team grows.
About you
You’ll ideally have around 2+ years’ experience within software delivery, technical project coordination, project management or a delivery-focused Product role.
More importantly, you’ll be highly organised, confident communicating with technical teams and comfortable challenging people when you need information or something isn’t going to plan.
You’ll also have:
- Previous experience working directly with Software Engineering teams.
- A good understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with Agile environments and concepts such as sprints, Kanban and delivery boards.
- Experience using Jira or similar project management/delivery tools.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence working with engineers and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to identifying problems and improving processes.
Why join?
This is an opportunity to move beyond simply maintaining somebody else’s delivery plans and start putting your own mark on how software gets delivered.
You’ll initially work closely with experienced members of the Product and Engineering teams to understand the current delivery process before gradually taking responsibility for the day-to-day coordination yourself.
As the business grows and takes on more projects, there will be plenty of opportunity to improve processes, introduce better reporting and metrics, take on greater responsibility and develop into a broader software delivery role.
You don’t need to already be an experienced Delivery Manager.
If you’ve been working around software delivery for a couple of years, understand how engineering teams operate and are ready to step up and make the function your own, this is the opportunity for you.
