Senior Data Architect – Microsoft Fabric | Modern Data Platforms
Remote First - Occasional Travel to London Office
Up to £130,000
This is an opportunity for an experienced Data Architect to take a leading role in shaping and delivering modern Microsoft-based data platforms, with a strong focus on Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services. You’ll work closely with enterprise clients to design scalable, cloud-native data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and AI readiness.
You’ll operate in a highly client-facing consulting environment where architecture, engineering, and delivery come together. This is a role where you’ll stay hands-on with technology while also influencing solution design, client strategy, and architectural direction from early discovery through to implementation.
The Role
You’ll work across complex enterprise transformation programmes, helping organisations modernise legacy data estates into Microsoft Fabric-based modern data platforms.
This includes designing end-to-end data architectures using Microsoft Fabric and Azure services such as ADF, Azure SQL Database, and Synapse. You’ll be responsible for defining scalable data models, building and optimising data pipelines, and ensuring data is structured effectively for analytics and reporting use cases.
You’ll also work directly with clients to gather requirements, lead architecture workshops, and translate business and technical needs into clear, scalable solution designs. In addition, you’ll support delivery teams throughout implementation, ensuring solutions are built to a high standard across performance, governance, security, and cost optimisation. You’ll contribute to pre-sales activities and help shape proposals, solution approaches, and technical direction for new engagements.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll take ownership of designing and delivering Microsoft Fabric-based data platforms across enterprise environments, working across both cloud-native and hybrid data estates. You’ll remain hands-on with technologies such as SQL, Kusto Query Language (KQL), Azure data services, and modern data pipeline tooling.
You’ll also play a key role in modernising reporting and analytics environments, including exposure to Power BI semantic modelling, and you’ll work closely with engineering teams to ensure solutions are delivered effectively from design through to production. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to internal architecture standards, reusable patterns, and best practices across Microsoft-based data solutions.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for experienced Data Architects with strong Microsoft ecosystem expertise and a background in delivering enterprise-scale data platforms. You should have experience working with modern data warehouse and lakehouse architectures, strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL systems, and hands-on experience with Azure data services including ADF, Azure SQL Database, Synapse, Cosmos DB, and KQL.
You’ll also have experience in designing and implementing data pipelines across cloud and on-prem environments, with strong data modelling skills (3NF, Kimball, or equivalent). Experience working in consulting or client-facing delivery environments is essential, along with the ability to translate complex requirements into clear, practical architectural solutions.
Desirable Experience
Experience with Microsoft Fabric solution design and implementation, Microsoft Purview or other data governance tooling, Azure infrastructure and networking, Databricks exposure, Python for data engineering, DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform), and Power BI semantic modelling would all be advantageous. Exposure to AI or machine learning solutions would also be beneficial.
Impact and Value
This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale data transformation programmes where your architectural decisions directly shape how organisations modernise their Microsoft data platforms. You’ll combine hands-on technical delivery with client-facing consulting, helping clients build robust, scalable, and future-ready data ecosystems that enable better reporting, analytics, and AI adoption.
Apply
If you’re a Microsoft-focused Data Architect with strong experience across Azure and Fabric who enjoys combining hands-on delivery with client-facing consulting, we’d like to hear from you.
