Senior Machine Learning Engineer
£60,000 | 12-month FTC | West London | Hybrid – 2 days onsite
If your Machine Learning experience goes beyond building models and into actually getting them running reliably in production, this could be an interesting next move.
This is a hands-on ML Engineering role focused on the infrastructure and engineering behind production machine learning. You'll work across the ML lifecycle, helping to build, deploy, serve and maintain models operating within a large-scale environment.
It's much more Machine Learning Engineering than GenAI, with particular emphasis on TensorFlow, production deployment and ML infrastructure.
The role
You'll be involved in:
- Building, training and optimising machine learning models using TensorFlow
- Developing and working with production ML pipelines
- Deploying machine learning models into production environments
- Working with model serving and inference technologies
- Monitoring and maintaining models once they're live
- Working with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
- Supporting reliable, scalable ML infrastructure
- Contributing to experimentation and continuous model improvement
- Working with engineering, data and product teams to take ML solutions from development into production
Your experience
The strongest candidates are likely to have around 3+ years of hands-on commercial Machine Learning Engineering experience, with evidence of taking ML beyond experimentation and into production.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong commercial experience with TensorFlow
- Experience building and deploying ML solutions in production
- Understanding of the end-to-end ML lifecycle
- Experience with ML pipelines and MLOps
- Exposure to TFX (TensorFlow Extended) would be particularly valuable
- Experience with a model serving or inference technology
- Strong Python skills
- Experience maintaining and monitoring ML systems once deployed
- Experience working with ML systems operating at meaningful production scale
The exact model serving technology isn't important. Experience with TensorFlow Serving, Triton, TorchServe or another production serving technology can all be relevant.
Experience with recommendation systems, personalisation, ranking algorithms, real-time data, Scala or GenAI applications would be useful, but isn't essential.
UK experience isn't essential
Previous UK experience isn't required.
If you've gained strong Machine Learning Engineering experience internationally and are now looking to continue your career in the UK, that experience will be considered alongside UK-based experience.
You must already have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the 12-month FTC, as sponsorship isn't available.
The position is based in West London with 2 days per week onsite, so you'll need to be comfortable making that commute regularly.
If you've worked hands-on with TensorFlow and can demonstrate how you've helped take machine learning systems from development into production, this could be a strong fit.
